If you sign up for Microsoft Passwordless login, this is where you login using just your yubikey with no second factor, the process will probably demand that you the Yubikey has a pin code. I'll keep reading around in the meantime.ĮDIT: ok I searched again and according to this post NFC is fully supported for iPhones? Sounds like the YubiKey 5 NFC would work for me then?ĮDIT2: ok this comment confirms that they work with iPhones over NFC. Do I need to be around a computer in order to access such apps? Does it make sense to get the USB-A NFC key if I own an iPhone? I mean, I still have my Windows computer, I just need to understand whether it's going to give me some trouble logging into apps from my iPhone with the hardware key as security. Is the Yubikey 5 still a good purchase in 2021? Or should I get the USB-C to be somewhat future proof? (I doubt) Is NFC full support ever coming for iPhones? Any rumors/news about it? Now, some questions, I hope they weren't in the FAQ, otherwise I'm blind: So I was considering the USB-A YubiKey 5 NFC for both durability and the fact that I do not own any USB-C equipped computer yet, and the fact that USB-A is just fine and will be around for years, also by reading the sub it seems that the USB-A version is more durable than the USB-C counterpart. I am trying to buy a Yubikey for myself, and I know that NFC use with iOS devices is still limited, but I don't want to pay more for the 5Ci to have the extra lightning port and use it on my iPhone.
